2027 ELECTIONS: Hon. Eze Flags off Campaign, Seeks Support for Udenu in Reps Race
The House of Representatives Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, High Chief Benjamin Chimaobi Eze, has commenced his campaign in Ogwu Obollo-Eke Ward, Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State, with a call on residents to support his aspiration.
Eze, who described Obollo-Eke as his home, said he deliberately began his campaign in the ward because of its strategic importance to his political ambition, expressing confidence that the support of Ogwu people would strengthen his chances across the constituency.
The campaign visit also provided an opportunity for community leaders, party officials, elders, women and youths to declare support for his candidacy, particularly against what they described as attempts to undermine the political understanding between Udenu and Igboeze North on the rotation of the federal constituency seat.
In his remarks, Chief Eze said that he was not a stranger in Ogwu or Obollo-Eke, explaining that his investments in the area were motivated by the need to address local development challenges.
He maintained that the rotation arrangement between Udenu and Igboeze North was founded on an understanding of fairness, urging those questioning its existence to investigate the history of the agreement.
The candidate lamented the poor state of roads and the absence of a functional health centre in parts of the community, blaming what he described as the tendency of some politicians to prioritize short-term financial inducements over long-term development.
He promised to attract more development projects to both Udenu and Igboeze North if elected, particularly in healthcare and other infrastructure.
Eze, who said that he had served at different tiers of government, assured the people that his experience would enable him to provide effective representation and deliver more opportunities to the constituency.
He also criticized the prevailing tax system, describing it as an area requiring reform, and said that his professional experience in taxation had equipped him with the knowledge to advocate a fairer system that would not unduly burden citizens.
Similarly, the Director-General of the Benjamin Chimaobi Eze Campaign Organization, Paul Abugu, said that the political understanding between Udenu and Igboeze North on power rotation should be respected in the interest of equity and peaceful coexistence.
Abugu explained that the agreement provided for the rotation of the House of Representatives seat between the two local government areas, noting that after Udenu had taken its turn, the position moved to Igboeze North and had now returned to Udenu.

He described Eze as a listening politician who was accessible and committed to finding solutions to people’s challenges.
Abugu urged the electorate to shun monetary inducements and defend what he called their collective political rights, insisting that the people should unite behind Eze’s candidacy.
The Assistant Director-General of the campaign organization, Agatha Itodo, also expressed concern over what she described as the promotion of injustice, urging the electorate to place equity and fairness above financial inducements.
She described Eze as an upright person and appealed to the people not to exchange their political future for money.
Speaking during the visit, one of the elders, Ichie Godwin Chukwuma described Eze as a man of integrity, urging the people to resist intimidation and rely on their Permanent Voter Cards to determine the outcome of the election.
He expressed confidence that Eze, being the only candidate from Udenu in the race, deserved the support of the people, adding that elders in the area had continued to pray for his success.
The ADC Ward Chairman, Alex Ezeme, said that the prolonged marginalization of the people spurred his involvement in mainstream politics, insisting that the constituency needed effective representation rather than political intimidation.
He urged Eze to remain committed to the Obollo project, describing him as a son of the community who had made significant investments in the area. Mr. Ezeme appealed to the electorate to give Chief Eze an opportunity to represent them, declaring him as their own.
A woman leader in the area while thanking God for presenting them with a candidate she described as kind and familiar with the needs of the community, urged her people not to abandon their own.
A youth leader pledged the support of young people, while Elder Ugwu called on residents to stand firmly for their political rights and resist intimidation.
The speakers collectively urged the people of Ogwu Obollo-Eke to mobilize support for Eze, expressing optimism that his emergence would provide an opportunity for greater representation and development in the constituency.
